Idgaf what people are using to set their Thanksgiving table. Tbh, Allrecipes SHOULD have split itself in two when they got so completely fat with videos and tutorials. Watch the whole video to catch all the ingredients? No. But when I'm looking for a recipe, it's often for the purposes of making a grocery list or double checking what temperature to bake that quiche crust at. Yeah, if there's one thing that I can't stand, it's video recipes. I quit trying to use Allrecipes because of their overzealous self-promotion, because I just couldn't navigate through it fast enough for it to be useful. When you use a search function and only 3 or 4 out of 1328 items will load, because the rest of the page is already full of headers, footers, banners, etc, that's the business pulling out all the stops to hook you in every way possible. Cuz I hate automatic shit that constantly runs or reloads every time you change pages. I've got reins on my browser is what I'm saying. Believe me, I've got a pop up blocker on, autoplay video is turned off, I turn off autofill. There's only ONE other business whose website I have found is so full and cluttered, it's impossible to use to shop on. The pop ups, it's a sign up for the email newsletter or subscribe to their magazine or sign up for video tutorials. The scrolling shit at the top, it's a seasonal menu. Their featured recipes will always show at the bottom of every page. No, Allrecipes autoplays THEIR videos and the ads of their sponsors. That slows shit down to the point of not being functional. You don't need to use all the features your website is capable of on every single page. Flashing banners and rolling footers and "join this email list now!" I get it. Is that a commercial or a tutorial? Did I even click on it? Yeah, there's too much going on for the website to be useful any more. Too many links to too many videos and autoplay have also really messed shit up. Maybe we don't need to share the profile photos of reviewers and their version of the finished dish. I liked that they were all there, all in one place.Īnd yeah, that ingredients to exclude/include feature. The recipes are bookmarked on the cloud and I guess I'll wade through the food blogs for new ones. Good thing I rarely need to use it anymore. Look, I've been searching online recipes since 1999, and Allrecipes/ had been the tits. It's like you're me and I wrote this comment. Make sure to include a link!
